Dear Colleagues,

on behalf of the co-chairs prof. Gabriella Gallo and prof. Piero Ruggeri and of the whole Local Organizing Committee, I have the pleasure of inviting you to participate in the 66th Congress of the Italian Physiological Society that will be for the first time organized in Genoa.

Genoa is a very attractive city, full of history and art, which has undergone a "renaissance" in the last twenty years. The meeting will be located partly in the historical University Palace built in 1634 by the "Compagnia di Gesù" (Gesuite College) and partly in the modern "Porto "Antico" Congress Center in the heart of the Old Harbor recently reshaped by Renzo Piano.

The scientific program is stimulating with the participation of distinguished foreign scientists, plenary lectures, including the opening lecture on Art and Science, numerous symposia and workshops, many of which will be dedicated to young physiologists.

I hope in an enthusiastic participation and wish you to enjoy the rich scientific program together with the artistic and natural treasures that Genoa and the surrounding coast offer to the guests.

Welcome to Genoa!

Fabio Benfenati,
President of the Organising Committee
